The State of New Jersey administers a comprehensive system of care for resident citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Below is a list of State Departments and Divisions that work both independently and collaboratively to ensure that a full spectrum of services is available from birth through adulthood for people with I/DD.
Children's and Youth Services

The New Jersey Early Intervention System (NJEIS) serves infants and toddlers, birth to age three, with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families.

DCF's Children's System of Care (CSOC) serves children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral health care challenges and their families; and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families.

The State of New Jersey has contracted with PerformCare to administer the publicly-funded developmental disability service delivery system for children up to age 21.
School-Based Services

Implements state and federal laws and regulations governing special education to ensure that studentsd with disabilities in New Jersey receive full educational opportunities.
Adult Services

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to adults and children with disabilities who have limited income and resources.

Publicly-funded health insurance for low-income residents.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) provides and funds services for resident adults (age 21 and over) with developmental disabilities.

Provides services that enable individuals with disabilities to find jobs or keep their existing jobs.
